Traffic Flow

Check out maps for other Hill move-in operations here!
How It Works
Residents enter Lot 7 via the Lot 4 underpass. In Lot 7, residents unload their belongings into move-in carts which are then transported for them (by moving trucks) to the Rieber Turnaround for pick-up. This setup minimizes congestion at the turnaround and supports a smooth move-in process. While the resident’s belongings are being transported from Lot 7 to the Rieber Turnaround, residents and their guests will be able to find parking in long-term spot and make their way to the bus stop on Charles E Young Drive North to take a shuttle up to the Rieber Turnaround. Once at the Rieber Turnaround, residents will be able to collect their move-in carts and begin moving their items into their room.
Step-by-Step Traffic Flow
Step 1: Arrival at Lot 4 Entry
- Verify residents are in the right location by asking “Hi, where are you looking to move-in to?”
- Vehicles approach Lot 4 by entering via Charles E. Young Drive North.
- Residential Life staff stationed at the Lot 4 entry greet families and direct cars across the internal bridge into Lot 7.
Step 2: Parking & Unloading
- Lot 7 will utilize one parking lane for move-in operations.
- Within this lane, there will be two perpendicular unloading lanes where cars can park diagonally in front of parking spaces.
- Can use multiple parking lanes for overflow.
Step 3: Loading Belongings onto Moving Trucks
- TBAs assist families in moving belongings from vehicles to the waiting moving trucks stationed in Lot 7.
- Once belongings are loaded, families receive a ticket to present at the Rieber Turnaround for item retrieval.
Step 4: Post-Unloading Vehicle Flow
- After unloading, drivers are directed to proceed to long-term parking (Lower lots 4 & 7).
Step 5: Family Transition to the Hill
- Families may walk up designated pedestrian paths to the Rieber Turnaround and residence halls or utilize public buses serving the Hill area.
