Cove & Landing - Outside Sproul Cove
How It Works
Vehicles will enter from De Neve Drive and be directed into one of the designated to the first available Unloading Zone beginning with Unloading Zone #1. Once in an unloading zone, residents and families can use carts to transport belongings along the marked pedestrian walkways toward their building check-in location. After unloading, vehicles will exit the lot onto Charles E. Young North to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
Step-by-Step Traffic Flow
Step 1: Arrival at SV Parking Lot
- Verify residents are in the right location by asking “Hi, where are you looking to move-in to?”
- Vehicles enter the Hill via De Neve Drive and turn into the SV Parking Lot.
- Residential Life staff greet families and direct vehicles into designated unloading lanes. Staff emphasize that no cars should be left unattended. Single drivers should be directed to P2 to unload items and move their vehicle to long term parking within 30 minutes. Drivers with Disabled Person Parking Placards may pull into Disabled Person Parking designated spaces to unload.
Step 2: Unloading Lane Configuration
- The two parking lanes to the left will be used for unloading.
- Each parking lane contains two unloading lanes where vehicles are queued perpendicularly over parking spaces for efficient unloading. All vehicles should be directed to the loading zone closest to the exit at the time of their arrival (beginning with Unloading Zone #1).
- If the unloading lanes are full, staff will redirect incoming vehicles to floor 2 of the SV Parking Structure for overflow unloading.
Step 3: Unloading Process & Designated Walking Lane
- Res Life staff greets family and reminds them that they cannot leave the car unattended.
- A hedged walking lane is established along the perimeter of the unloading area for families and TBAs to safely navigate the parking lot while moving carts.
- TBA is sent to the car to assist families unload belongings directly from their vehicles.
Step 5: Post-Unloading Vehicle Flow
- After unloading, drivers are directed to exit the SV Parking Lot and proceed to long-term parking (Lower levels of Lot 4 & 7 for overflow).
Step 6: Family Transition to Residence Halls
- TBAs are encouraged to utilize the fire lane between Sunset Rec and Courtside instead of using the elevator.
- Families and TBAs should use the hedged walking lane to navigate out of the parking lot and enter the quad through Canyon Point.
